The Historic Home
The historic home, built in 1810, makes the perfect backdrop for a wedding ceremony. With enough space to accommodate hundreds of guests, a brick aisle-way, and a large porch that serves as a perfect altar, the home is our most popular ceremony location. There is little need to decorate the already beautiful area, making it easy for set up and clean up. A few simple personal touches can make it ideal for your special day.
Our sprawling 168 acre property perfectly surrounds the backyard, making for a peaceful and secluded spot for your ceremony or reception. The large magnolia and maple trees shade the area and provide a canopy for dancing and socializing. The area is flat and open enough to accommodate large tents, or can be left as is for an evening under the stars. Picnic tables can add a rustic element and extra seating, or can be moved to accommodate other tables and chairs.
For those looking to add a rustic element to their special occasion, our white, tin-roof barn makes a beautiful backdrop. With enough space for a ceremony in front of it or a tent beside it, it is sure to make a statement.
The Creek House
The Creek House, overlooking the tranquil Stewart's Creek, makes the perfect venue for small ceremonies, receptions, or rehearsal dinners. The working gas fireplace and beautiful hardwood floors provide a homey feel for your intimate occasion. Located within the Creek House is a full kitchen for your caterer to set up and prep for your big day. Parties taking place within the Creek House also have use of the 50 chairs and 8 round tables, making planning a breeze.
For receptions needing a larger space, the Creek House can also serve as a bridal suite for the bride and bridesmaids. The ample space, inclusion of tables and chairs, and the three restrooms provide a great location for the bride and her bridesmaids to get ready on site. A separate building across the property is also available as a groomsmen room.
If you are looking for a covered space for your occasion, the veranda, attached to the visitor center, provides the feel of a wrap around porch overlooking the backyard. Normally filled with rocking chairs, the space can serve as a space for your guests during your reception. The length of the veranda has ceiling fans and lights, and can accommodate anywhere from 50-100 guests, depending on the type of tables used.
The Visitor Center
Located within the visitor center is the lobby and conference room. The two spaces provide the perfect location for some indoor seating and/or a place for your caterer to set up a buffet. Also within the visitor center are clean and spacious restrooms for your guests, as well our gift shop which can be left open or closed during your event.
A unique feature that can be included in your package for a small extra fee is our museum and theater. The museum can provide some entertainment for your guests between the ceremony and reception, and the theater is the perfect place to showcase a slideshow or video of your favorite moments as a couple.
The Cotton Fields
Two large cotton fields grace the perimeter of the property. During the Spring and Summer, the green foliage is covered with pink and yellow blossoms. As Fall approaches, the foliage turns brown and the blossoms form beautiful white bolls which by the beginning of winter pop open, making the field look as if it has snowed. These fields make a beautiful backdrop for your ceremony or a unique place for photos.
While Stewart's Creek has wound through the property for centuries, our Creekside ceremony location is a recent addition. Perfect for intimate weddings with a guestlist of 50 or less, the site includes benches, eliminating the need for rented chairs. The beautiful sounds the creek provides will make your guests forget that they are only a few miles from the center of town.
