Does your child love learning about the past? Or, would you like them to know more about the “yesteryear”? This camp introduces your young “whippersnapper” to a world without cell phones and social media. Without a microwave and flushable toilets. Your child will learn what it takes to interpret the past for today’s audience. By the end of the week they will be able to guide visitors through the historic house and grounds.

Arts and crafts are making a comeback but there was a time when families completed sewing projects and knitted for practical reasons rather than as a hobby. Campers in the Jane Davis Academy will learn about the 19th Century way of life, including sewing, dance, appropriate dress, and other household chores. When the men left for war the women took care of the farm. Campers will also learn the farm chores required in order to keep a plantation operating. Period dress is optional.
